'SERPENTINE'

This series is an exploration of ergonomic designs and by extension natural forms.

Zooming in, the angle and orientation, the use of negative space, contrasting colours and the solid shapes all help to somewhat disguise the object, drawing attention to the curves and shape of the object, rather than the object’s identity.

This series aims to draw attention to the beauty of the forms and by extension the human body while still leaving the object somewhat recognisable.

'Serpentine' Faux leather on wooden board, 60cm x 69cm, 2025

Each shape is a separate piece of wooden board cut out by hand and wrapped tightly in faux leather. It is then slotted together to create the final piece. Each shape fits snugly up against the other while retaining it’s individuality.

The smooth curves of each joint coupled with the tactile faux leather texture invites the viewer to reach out.

Exploring beyond the immediate impression unravels a deeper meaning. This series is also about drawing attention to the deeper intimacy, pleasure, understanding, exploration and liberation that these objects represent.
